Child-Resistant, Senior-Friendly and Sustainable Unit Dose Package
MedLock delivers patient compliance as well as package security and sustainability in an innovative, all-in-one unit dose packaging solution for pharmaceuticals. MedLock features a foil-laminated pill blister card locked within a tear-resistant formed paper tray and takes pharmaceutical package security to the next level with its patent-pending locking mechanism. Subjected to Consumer Product Safety Commission testing protocols, MedLock has tested to F=1 for child-resistant and senior-friendly effectiveness.
The MedLock design promotes compliance by delivering a clear and consistent blister regimen to the patient. It serves as an ideal replacement to amber medication bottles and nondescript blister packs that require patients to track their dosages and remaining quantities. The MedLock package features a push-down, pull-out design with a unique release and locking mechanism. The patient pushes down on a blister cavity that protrudes through the lid to release the blister card and dispense the dosage. The blister card is designed to remain intact within the outer protective paperboard shell and lock back into place each time the package is closed.
MedLock is easily customizable. It can accommodate a variety of blister cavities and medications. It also delivers branding and sustainability benefits as a result of its paperboard-based design; the package is entirely brandable and recyclable*.
MedLock vs. MedLock EZ
MedLock is the sister package to the MedLock EZ family of unit dose packages. MedLock and MedLock EZ both promote patient compliance. Both designs feature the blister card locking mechanism, and both are rated F=1. Where they differ is in the outer shell construction. MedLock EZ is made from a single sheet of paperboard folded and glued together to form one solid piece that resembles a carton, while MedLock consists of a tear-resistant formed paper tray and fold-over lid that are heat-sealed together.
* MedLock may be recycled in programs that accept mixed material packaging.
