3rd shift 10:00pm to 6:00am

Key Job Description

Make Ready & operate sheetfed offset conventional/UV 6-color RMGT Printing Press to produce pharmaceutical folding cartons on .010-.024 stock and inspect material produced. Significant inspection and documentation requirements. Use spectrophotometer and densitometer to read and maintain color. Use Global Vision scanning system to perform copy checks. Perform routine preventive maintenance. Oversee and train Press Assistant.

Essential Job Functions

  • Make ready press, including setting fountain keys, putting ink in fountains, putting on and registering press plates, adjusting feed & delivery guides, setting up side & drop guides, setting up guide wheels, adjusting ink and water balance.
  • Operate printing press by turning it on, setting spray powder unit, periodically removing unit to clean, pulling single sheets from loads for quality checks, adjusting ink and water balance.
  • Perform operations at console; input and retrieve data.
    Measure color using digital scans with IntelliTrax and/or a spectrophotometer.
  • Wash up press; including taking ink out of fountains, attaching wash up pans to press, cleaning blankets and rollers with solvent.
    Install, set, & remove rollers.
  • Perform preventative press maintenance, including greasing & oiling press, cleaning cylinders, evacuating spray powder & dust, cleaning ink fountains to ensure the press is kept in good condition.
  • Complete time & production reports, attribute charts, defect reports.
    Complete and file notes specific to each job.
  • Monitor condition of machinery and report unsafe conditions and/or needed repairs.
  • Perform precise and careful visual inspection of printed material for accuracy and adherence to quality standards including color, copy, position and printing defects.
  • Maintain expected standards of productivity.
  • Accurately perform required quality checks in accordance with SOPs
  • Be dependable, on time to work and at work consistently, regular and overtime hours – and weekends with short notice.
  • Develop teamwork and positive relationships with co-workers.
  • Adhere to all Company rules, policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all Quality Assurance policies and procedures.
  • Meet all established standards of conduct and work performance.

Non-essential Job Functions:

  • Maintain cleanliness & organization of printing department and area around press with daily, weekly & monthly housekeeping.
  • Non-routine Press maintenance and repair.
  • Assist in other areas of the printing dept. as needed.
  • Train personnel to perform Press Operator functions.
  • Operate Aerator

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations including addition, subtraction, and multiplication of whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Calculate fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to read and comprehend information on job jacket and accurately perform quality checks.
  • Ability to take and record precise measurements.
  • Ability to operate a hand-held calculator.
  • Experience operating a press with a non-stop feed system.
