At Colbert Packaging, we view sustainability as an inherent aspect of our business. We are passionate about our environment and are committed to focusing our efforts on doing the right things to create a sustainable future for our business, our customers, our employees, our communities, and our world.
Our approach to sustainability is 3-pronged
Sustainability means longevity
We continue to innovate with paperboard packaging solutions
Every day we strive for excellence and continuous improvement
Founded in 1959, Colbert Packaging remains, to this day, family-owned and people-focused. Our average employee tenure is 10+ years, with many over 20 years.
Our reinvestment into the business with new capital equipment and cutting-edge technology translates into new and better opportunities to serve our customers – long term.
Our active participation in community programs and associations allows us to share our message with future generations.
We continue to innovate with paperboard packaging solutions using less material, increased recyclability, and water- and agri-based inks, coatings, and adhesives. Our certifications in FSC® and SFI® provide our customers with chain of custody packaging opportunities—ask about our certified products.
We work hard every day to find ways to improve production processes and turn waste into opportunity. Our overall carbon footprint is reduced through our investment in zero-emissions wind power renewable energy credits, and we are actively pursuing zero manufacturing waste to landfill status.
What is a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC)?
A REC represents the environmental benefit associated with one MWh of renewable energy generated and delivered to the power grid. The RECs we support are Green-e Energy® certified and generated from wind farms located throughout the U.S. This allows us to reduce the overall impact of our operations, helps increase demand for renewable energy, and supports the ongoing development of renewable energy projects.
In just one year, our participation in RECs generates an environmental impact equivalent to:
SFI Marks are registered marks owned by Sustainable Forestry Initiative®.
FSC Marks are registered marks owned by Forest Stewardship Council®.
